Celebrating 40 Years - Make-A-Wish Alaska and Washington
Cheers to then, now and to wishes of the future!
This year, Make-A-Wish Alaska and Washington is 40 — and we’re celebrating BIG! We're walking down memory lane to honor the volunteers, donors, partners and communities across Alaska and Washington who have brought hope, strength and joy to children facing critical illnesses for four decades. We’ll be sharing stories, key memories and ways to get involved as we look back at where we started, and where we are headed.
How it Started
THEN
It all started with three people who began as strangers and quickly became family. Bob Cleaveland, Greg Wong and Penni Maples are the reason Make-A-Wish Alaska and Washington exists today. Together, they rolled up their sleeves and planted the seed for the organization we now know today.
How it's going
NOW
Today, thanks to supporters like you, we have granted more than 9,250 wishes. Each wish helps build courage, strengthen families and support children during the hardest moments of their medical journey.
What's Next
NEXT
More than 550 children are currently waiting for their wishes — and many more who qualify have not yet been referred. The need is growing, and your support has never been more important.
