Volunteer Barb

Volunteer of the Year: Barb Bye

Barb Bye volunteers to honor the legacy of her daughter Maggie, who passed away after battling cancer.

A bright spot for her family during this difficult time, was Maggie's wish to meet fashion icon, Marc Jacobs.

The experience left such a profound impact on Barb, it propelled her to dedicate her entire life to making more wishes come true.

"If I close my eyes, I can still see the beautiful smile on my daughter's face, the day her wish came true," said Barb. "I feel my greatest gift as a volunteer, is being able to spread the word of the life-changing hope, healing and strength that comes from a critically-ill child having their wish granted."

Through Maggie's Angels, Inc 501(c)(3) Barb's family has raised $50,354 and counting, in support of wishes in Oregon and Clark County, Washington. In 2019, Barb was named Volunteer of the Year at the Make-A-Wish America National Conference for her commitment to making a difference in Oregon and her home state of Wisconsin.
