Mya Beth's wish to go to Disney World
Mya Beth, wish granted 2018
liver transplant
I wish to go to Disney World
The summer of 2016, my mom noticed that my skin and eyes were turning yellow. I was also suffering from constant nose bleeds every day where the bleeding would just seem to never end. After many doctor's appointments, and blood works. I was finally admitted into the hospital and diagnosed with Acute Liver Failure. I was 8 years old at the time and only expected to stay in the hospital for 3 days. Unfortunately those 3 days turned into many weeks of tests, biopsies, sleepless nights, and many more.
August 12th, 2016 I was able to receive my life saving liver transplant. After my diagnosis my life changed forever. I no longer felt like a "normal" kid. I was constantly having to be at the doctors, unfortunately couldn't go to school that year, couldn't hangout with any of my friends, and was just all around not the happiest. I felt different. When I was told I was eligible for a Make-A-Wish I was very excited. I immediately knew where I wanted to go, Disney World. The most magical place on earth!
My wish was granted around 2 years later. Spending my time at Disney world, I felt the feeling of being a kid again after I had thought I lost it. At 8 years old I thought my childhood was over, But at 10 I felt like I had a second try and being a kid. My wish made not only myself happy but also my whole family. Watching what I was going through from an outside perspective is something I could never imagine. My wish helped me and my family heal after such a traumatic event. Everything after that trip felt so much better. I felt like myself again! 10 years later I am starting my first year of college, and I have made so many friends and memories along the way. Thank you Make-A-Wish for making my childhood when I thought I had lost it
