Our Chapter

Our History

For over 40 years, Make-A-Wish Hudson Valley has been transforming lives, one wish at a time. Since receiving its charter in 1986, the chapter has granted more than 3,600 life-changing wishes to children with critical illnesses throughout the Hudson Valley, creating moments of hope, strength, and joy when they are needed most.

What began in a small office above Danny's Cheese Shop in Mount Kisco has grown into a regional force for good, serving children and families across Delaware, Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Sullivan, Ulster, and Westchester counties. From the Wish House in Tarrytown, our dedicated staff, volunteers, donors, medical partners, and Board of Directors work together to ensure every eligible child has the opportunity to experience the power of a wish.

Whether a child wishes to travel to a dream destination, meet a hero, enjoy a special shopping spree, become a star for a day, or give back to a cause they care about, every wish is uniquely tailored to the child and designed to bring hope and lasting memories. Today, Make-A-Wish Hudson Valley grants more than 135 wishes each year, all made possible through the generosity of local supporters who believe in the life-changing impact of a wish.

As part of the Make-A-Wish America network, the Hudson Valley chapter receives national support and resources, while every dollar used to grant wishes in our region is raised right here in the communities we serve. Together, we are creating strength, inspiration, and brighter futures for local children and their families.
