Meet Our 2027 Wish Night Co-Chairs
Wish mom, Kasie Marek, and fellow wish mom, Kennidi Werley.
Wish moms Kasie Marek and Kennidi Werley first met while their children, Noah and Oakley, were undergoing heart treatment. Now, they’re wishing it forward by bringing our community together to help make more wishes possible.
Kasie Marek
Kasie Marek is a childhood cancer survivor, passionate advocate, and proud mom of three who believes in finding hope even in life's hardest moments.
Diagnosed with cancer at 13 years old, Kasie's journey gave her a lifelong passion for supporting children and families facing medical challenges. That passion became even more personal when her son, Noah, was born with just half a heart, requiring 3 open heart surgeries before the age of three months old and eventually undergoing a heart transplant.
This experience gave her a deeper understanding of the strength, resilience, and hope these families carry.
Having experienced the impact of life-threatening illnesses from both a child's and a mother's perspective, Kasie is honored to co-chair Make-A-Wish Central & South Texas' 2027 Wish Night, helping bring joy, hope, and unforgettable memories to children and families who need them most.
Kennidi Werley
My reason for getting involved with Make-A-Wish Central & South Texas is deeply personal.
When our daughter Oakley was waiting for a heart transplant, our family faced a level of uncertainty we never could have imagined. We learned firsthand how much hope, joy, and having something to look forward to can mean during some of life's hardest moments.
Seeing Oakley's wish to go to Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa, in Hawaii come true reminded us that even in the midst of so much uncertainty, there is still joy and hope to be found.
That experience is why serving as Co-Chair of Wish Night means so much to me. I want to help create those same moments for other families walking a road we know all too well. Every child deserves something to look forward to, a memory to hold onto, and time when their family can focus on being together instead of the next appointment or medical uncertainty.
Oakley's wish changed our family, and now I want to help make more life-changing wishes possible for children and families like ours. That's my why.
