It's All for the Wish Kids: ICHARR Golf Tournament

Jodi Blakley has been a wish-granting volunteer for 12 years, and she served for two terms as a trustee at Make-A-Wish Alaska and Washington.

Blakley’s tireless devotion to Make-A-Wish is simple and powerful. She says, “I love to take care of the kids and our community.”

This devotion has taken many forms over the years. Whether planning wish trips for kids, hosting send-off parties for families, or raising valuable funds to benefit wishes.

One thing has become an annual labor of love. Every summer, when the weather gets warm way up north in Fairbanks, Alaska, Blakley sets to work planning a golf tournament to benefit wish kids.

In partnership with ICHARR (Alaska Cabaret, Hotel, Restaurant and Retails Association), Blakley plans a day on the golf course where all funds raised benefit wish kids.

Since its inception in 2010, the event has raised over $170,000! This is an astonishing feat that has meant we’ve been able to grant even more wishes for local Make-A-Wish children.

Blakley says, “This is the funding that our local community can provide while also having fun.”

For many participants, the golf tournament is a day they look forward to every year. It’s a chance to gather, have fun with friends, and know that all the funds raised turn into wish experiences for wish kids when they need it most.

We’re so thankful to Jodi Blakley and ICHARR for their spirit of generosity and hard work to make this event happen year after year.
