Henry's wish built hope

Every wish breaks ground the same way, with a blueprint designed in the child’s imagination.

When it came to Henry and his wish, it was no different. Henry went to work designing the playset of his dreams; one that he could build alongside his grandpa, “Boppa Mike.”

“He dreamed up this grand scheme...and he even drew out the plans for it and the instructions, the step by step,” said Henry’s mom, Louisa.

Then, Henry’s plans needed your support and nurturing to come to life.

Henry completed treatment for leukemia on the same day the playset arrived. In a day of celebration, his mom recalls being woken up around 7:30 by an excited Henry saying, “mommy it's my wish day,” already wearing his blue Make-A-Wish shirt they had set out for him the night before.

Henry built the playset alongside Boppa Mike and his sister, Alice. His wish provided Henry’s family an opportunity to put one chapter of their lives behind them, and look to the future and all of the fun memories to be made in the playhouse.

“Henry’s playset represents the completion of his treatment,” said Louisa. "This gives him a chance to feel like a normal kid."

Henry and his family are so excited to start welcoming other kids over to enjoy his wish as well. They hope to have his friends sign the back of it when they come to play as a record of all of the people he's been able to share his wish with.

"He'll be able to use this wish and share it with so many other kids. He will be able to see this every day."
