Community rallies to grant a movie theater experience
Hannah also loves princesses… especially princess movies.
In October of 2019, Hannah was diagnosed with leukemia, and her life dramatically changed. Due to her illness, it was risky for her to go to the movies at a regular cinema, and that was before the global pandemic began.
When it came time to figure out a wish, Hannah knew she wanted to be able to have a movie theater experience at home.
She missed the comfy seats… the tasty treats… and the princesses on the big screen.
That’s why Hannah wished to have a movie theater room redecoration.

It took the whole community to make Hannah’s wish come true.
First, the wish-granting team had to figure out all the details that would be needed. Dark painted walls. A projector for the movies. Theater-style seats and a way to make tasty treats. Workers to transform the room into a theater-like experience.
Through the creativity of the wish-granting team and the generosity of Denali Foods and its customers, Hannah’s wish came true.
Denali Foods, the Alaska Taco Bell franchisee, hosted a 2-week long campaign inviting customers to donate $1 each to help wish kids like Hannah.
Melanie Veeh, President of Denali Foods, said, “We think it’s important to be involved in our community, and we love supporting local wish kids and their families. The customer response was fantastic and that makes it possible to help grant many wishes year after year.”
Today you can find this cancer-fighting youngster in her home theater. She knows how to make popcorn in her very own popcorn machine, and she even makes her own soda with her soda stream.
Wish mom, Jennifer, said, “I think wishes are important because, when a child has a serious illness, they need an escape—a chance to just be a child for a little while. It is a light in what can be a very painful experience.”
On the day that Hannah’s wish came true, her eyes lit up when she saw her theater room for the first time. Her wish-granters had decorated the walls with princess posters, and she was overjoyed to realize that she could settle into a big leathery theater chair with her very own supply of popcorn, soda, and princesses.
Thanks to the generosity of the community, Hannah’s wish provides daily experiences of hope for days to come.
Thanks to the community who rallied to make this wish come true. We’re so grateful.
