Give Hope for the New Year

Tyren

Tyren enjoyed his day as a firefighter and still wishes to be one when he grows up.

How Tyren’s Wish to Be a Firefighter Gave Him Hope & Strength

At just 2 years old, Tyren underwent a heart transplant. And although his recovery was arduous and painful for him and his family, his wish to be a firefighter kept him going.

Tyren always dreamt of being a first responder. He loved the firetrucks and imagined having his own hat and jacket.

That dream became a reality when Tyren got his wish. Tyren and his family arrived at the firehouse, surrounded by a crowd of supporters from their community. The fire department was thrilled to see Tyren, and so was Patches the Dalmatian mascot.

Tyren received an official badge, a certificate of appreciation and a special red helmet made just for him. He assumed his duties as chief for the day, rode around in the firetruck, used the firehose and smiled the entire time.

Tyren’s mother Tiesha was thrilled to see her son so happy. This wish had a major impact on Tyren and his family as he continued recovering. But it also touched the hearts of everyone involved, from the firefighters to the community volunteers.

“The entire day was amazing, just seeing him smile like that. He still talks about it every day. He wants a firetruck to come pick him up!”
