East Texas Wish Kid to Receive Dream Backyard Treehouse
Skylar’s Treehouse Marks the 22nd Wish Granted by Builders of Hope
CORRIGAN, TX (August 9, 2024) – A wish is about to be granted for a local Corrigan girl.
Nine-year-old Skylar, bone marrow transplant, is a typical girly-girl who loves purple and all things princesses. But at heart, Skylar is an active farm girl who loves to play outside. Skylar loves the television show Treehouse Masters, which inspired her dream treehouse wish.
Her wish for a backyard treehouse will come true this weekend thanks to Miller LaPoint Construction.
This marks the fourth wish granted by Miller LaPoint Construction in partnership with Make-A-Wish Texas Gulf Coast and Louisiana’s Builders of Hope Committee. Builders of Hope brings together leaders and companies to provide expertise/knowledge, resources, monetary and in-kind support to fulfill our mission of granting life-changing wishes to children with critical illnesses. Since 2021, Builders of Hope has granted 22 wishes to children across our territory and made a cumulative impact of more than $440,000.
This isn’t the first time Make-A-Wish has impacted the life of Skylar’s family. In fact, her sister Allie is a Wish Alumna, and her wish to go to Disney World was granted in 2018.
“What a full circle moment for Skylar and her family. This week, we received a video of Skylar’s reaction to seeing the construction on her dream treehouse. Her smile lit the room! She had no idea her treehouse was being built this week. We cannot wait to celebrate in the completion of her treehouse this weekend,” said Michelle Mason, Director of Marketing and Communications for Make-A-Wish Texas Gulf Coast and Louisiana.
Skylar’s Treehouse Wish Reveal will take place this Sunday, August 11 at 10 a.m. at her home located at 711 Shotgun Ln, Corrigan, TX 75939. Interviews will be made available with Skylar and her family, as well as Make-A-Wish representatives.
