In an instant, Evan’s “normal” high school life came to a halt. Instead of studying for mid-terms and finals and spending time with friends, the 18-year-old was now focused on fighting his critical illness. At times, it was painful, lonely – and even depressing – so he often looked outward to incredible superheroes to help give him inner strength to fight harder.
When given the chance to wish for anything, it was only natural for Evan to want to attend the Los Angeles premiere of the Marvel Studios movie, “Avengers: Endgame,” so he could see some of his favorite superheroes up close and personal.
Unfortunately, Evan’s medical condition prevented him from being cleared to go, so Make-A-Wish partnered with Regal Cinemas and Marvel Studios to bring Evan his own private movie premiere.
On the big day, instead of actors and actresses walking the red carpet, all eyes were on Evan. Like a star, he strolled down the red carpet, being greeted by his classmates, family, volunteers and local media. After the private screening, Evan was presented with a signed movie poster and other Marvel collector’s items to make this one epic – out of this world – wish experience.
“This means a lot to Evan and us that he’s able to get out and see his friends and see the Avengers movie he’s been looking so forward to. I think anything to lift his spirits helps with his well-being and makes him feel better.” – Tina, Evan’s mom
For more than a decade, Marvel Studios has been an integral part of The Walt Disney Company’s relationship with Make-A-Wish, hosting wish kids on film sets and at events around the world. Thanks to Marvel Studios, even kids like Evan can be a hero.
Evan’s wish was granted by Make-A-Wish East Tennessee.
