Royal Ball Shines a Bright Light on Angelina and Her Family
Angelina was born with a rare heart condition that left her with only half of her heart.
Since she was a baby, Angelina has had many trips to the hospital. She endured several open-heart surgeries before the age of 5. There were days when her parents didn’t know how much time they’d have with their daughter.
“When she was a little girl, she had really scary moments where we didn’t know what was going to happen within the next hour even,” Angelina’s mom said. Her dad added, “It’s been an emotional ride from the surgeries, to the follow ups, to the uncertainty of everything.”
But, Angelina’s mom said, “It’s been an amazing ride since Make-A-Wish® came into our lives.” Angelina wished to have a royal ball as her birthday party. As she anticipated her wish coming true, Angelina wrote every detail she could imagine about her perfect royal ball in a journal, down to the color of the candies and desserts. She would be swept away in a horse-drawn carriage and greeted by more than 100 cheering guests. Her wish – down to every last journaled detail – came true.
To see the joy on her face because of everything that Make-A-Wish has done, it just fills my heart with joy.

Angelina’s wish wasn’t only an opportunity to celebrate her royal imagination, accomplishments and birthday. It was also a chance for her and her family to reconnect and create everlasting memories together. “With our daughter’s diagnosis, we had many trips to the hospital and surgeries that took us away from our other children, so to have them enjoy the celebration as well was great,” Angelina’s parents said. “Our whole family has had something so exciting to look forward to for months and months.”
She added, “Angelina’s wish was an amazing bright spot that has come from such a hard diagnosis.”
