It Started with One Wish

On April 29, 1980, 7-year-old Chris, battling leukemia, wished to be a police officer for a day. Six compassionate individuals answered the call, rallied the entire community, and granted a wish that lifted Chris during his darkest days. These original WishMakers were so moved by the power of a wish that they vowed to do more. From that single wish, a global movement was born.

You Can Be a WishMaker

Because of generous supporters like you, Make-A-Wish Orange County and the Inland Empire has granted more than 8,200 wishes to children in Orange, Riverside, and San Bernardino Counties. But our work is far from over—every 20 minutes, another family hears the devastating words that their child has been diagnosed with a critical illness.

We need more WishMakers to ensure that every eligible child experiences the life-changing power of a wish. This April, during World Wish Month, you can bring hope and joy to children in our community by fundraising or making a donation.
