Chris' Wish
On April 29, 1980, a 7-year-old boy with leukemia made a wish that came true – and sparked a global movement that continues to deliver hope to children, families, and communities around the world. From Chris’ wish, Make-A-Wish® was born, the nation’s largest wish-granting organization that serves nearly 50 countries on five continents, including every community in the United States.
For children battling a critical illness, wishes provide what medicine cannot – extraordinary and memorable experiences that make an illness the least of their worries. The experience can be a gamechanger that brings joy and a sense of normalcy back into a family’s life, helping children build the physical and emotional strength they need to fight their illness.
Since 1996, Make-A-Wish Southern Nevada has granted more than 2,300 of these life-changing wishes to children in Las Vegas and the surrounding counties. This year, our chapter celebrates a milestone: 25 years of wish granting in Southern Nevada. And by celebrating with us, you can help grant wishes for 25 years more.
