Volunteer Spotlight: Christopher Lary

Christopher Lary is a virtual wish granter for Make-A-Wish and started volunteering in February of 2023. Although he hasn’t been with Make-A-Wish for long, his work has made a significant impact for many wish families in North Texas. Christopher’s commitment to the Make-A-Wish mission has equally impacted his life.

Christopher started working with Make-A-Wish after receiving an email from the Volunteer Center of Lubbock, expressing the need for wish granters. Christopher immediately jumped on the opportunity, signed up for training and became a wish granter. His favorite part about volunteering with Make-A-Wish is communicating with the families and hearing their stories while discovering the child’s wish.

“Make-A-Wish has had a positive impact on my life. I am proud to be a part of such an amazing organization. I receive inspiration and motivation from the wishes I have been a part of and continue to be a part of daily,” Christopher said.

Christopher role in Make-A-Wish has proven to be beneficial for his own life. Christopher has a disability that requires him to be in a wheelchair, so virtual wish-granting gives him the perfect opportunity to support a local organization in a safe and comfortable way.

“I believe that despite my disability, anything is possible, and I can successfully complete the tasks and responsibilities required as a virtual wish granter. During my time with Make-A-Wish, I have had the opportunity to meet many amazing families and work with some amazing wish mangers and wish partners,” Christopher said.

Christopher plans to continue his journey with Make-A-Wish as a virtual wish granter. We are so thankful to have such dedicated wish granters like Christopher. If you are interested in becoming a wish granter, click here.
