Volunteer Spotlight: Anne C.

Inspired by Experience

We are excited to introduce Anne Clase as our volunteer spotlight this month!

Anne is a full-time online student at Eastern Washington University, studying child life and disability studies. She and her husband enjoy playing video games, exploring and camping together! Anne got involved with Make-A-Wish after hearing about the organization from some friends, and though she has only been volunteering for three months, she is currently working with 12 wish kids.

Anne’s passion for Make-A-Wish and her studies stem from her past experience, and she loves working with children.

“Growing up, my sibling was chronically-ill and in and out of doctor’s appointments and emergency rooms. When I was a teenager, I started developing my own health issues, eventually getting diagnosed with multiple conditions. I have had to learn to create my new every day from circumstances I never thought I would be in,” she explained. “I have always loved working with kids, and I have been volunteering with them in many ways since middle school. I want to make kids’ worlds a little brighter in any way I can, and I have a special heart for those with complex medical conditions since I personally know many of the hardships that come along with those journeys.”

One of Anne’s favorite parts about being a wish granter is discovering the unique components of each kid’s life and what makes them who they are. She loves granting all types of wishes, but she has a special love for wishes to be a princess or have a makeover because they remind of herself when she was a child.

It is easy to see how much Anne loves Make-A-Wish and how strongly she cares for our wish kids. Anne shared that her favorite part of volunteering is “meeting amazing people—the wish managers, the other volunteers and the fantastic wish families we get to interact with—and most importantly, all of the amazing wish kids!”

Anne encourages people to volunteer with Make-A-Wish so that they can give back to wish families, and she fully believes in the Make-A-Wish mission.

“It truly makes an impact on families needing some joy in their lives. The time you spend is also very flexible as a wish granter, so it can fit almost every schedule,” she said.

Thank you, Anne, for your hard work and dedication to Make-A-Wish North Texas! Our volunteers make wishes special and extraordinary. Please consider signing up to become a volunteer today.
