Seventeen-year-old JJ from Earleville, MD has always been an avid video gamer. When JJ's cystic fibrosis admitted him to the hospital for an 8-month long period, the one thing he could rely on to give him joy every day was playing video games. The virtual realms he explored provided an escape from the harsh realities of his medical condition. His mom attributes the Internet to saving his mental health during a time where he could not leave his hospital room. "The Internet saved his life; I kid you not," says Christine, JJ's mom.
High-speed Internet is important for the best online gaming experience, but JJ's home on Maryland's Eastern Shore only had satellite Internet service, which did not deliver the speed or reliability he needed. When JJ learned that he qualified for a life-changing wish from Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic, he immediately asked to have a better Internet connection for gaming.
When Comcast heard about JJ's wish, the company stepped in to hook up his family's home to its Xfinity 10G Network, extending services at no cost and providing one year of complimentary gig-speed Internet service. When Comcast arrived to complete the installation, they surprised JJ with more gifts including a PlayStation 5, a selection of the latest games, a wireless headset, and a new laptop.
Now that JJ is upgraded to superfast Internet service, he can enjoy his favorite hobby so much more while also staying connected to his friends.
Thank you, Comcast, for helping make this wish come true!
