Devin has been a “Star Wars” fan long before his cancer diagnosis. He grew up right when all the prequels started coming out and has watched all of them. While undergoing cancer treatments, however, Devin got the news that only a few lucky fans will ever get: His wish to attend the premiere for “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker,” the latest film in the saga, was coming true.
“It’s always been my dream to go to one of these red-carpet premieres,” Devin said. “I can’t believe I get to walk the red carpet.”
Devin’s wish experience kicked off with a greeting at the airport from Storm Troopers. The next evening at the premiere, Devin and a few other wish kids anxiously stood behind a velvet rope and waited patiently for the cast to appear. One by one, every single cast member made their way over to greet him and take photos. Devin even got to see Executive Chairman Bob Iger and director JJ Abrams. Once all the actors had arrived, Devin was escorted to the Dolby Theatre, where he was taken to a galaxy far, far away.
This is an out-of-this-world experience that will live with Devin forever. It’s given him renewed hope for his future and that anything is truly possible.
Thank you to Walt Disney Studios and Disney for making epic wishes like Devin’s possible.
Devin’s wish was granted by Make-A-Wish Illinois.
