Topgolf: Teeing Up Wishes
by Kimberly Olson
When you step into Topgolf, it’s easy to see why it’s such a welcoming place for families to spend time together. Guests can gather in private bays, play interactive games, enjoy music and shareable refreshments—all contributing to a relaxed social experience that’s about connection as well as entertainment.
As a longtime Make-A-Wish partner, Topgolf extends that same hospitality to wish kids and their families, creating meaningful moments of joy and play during their wish journeys.
For example, Topgolf San Jose hosted a welcome reception for the 24 kids who wished to go to Super Bowl LIX and their family members—more than 100 excited guests from around the country. The families played golf within sight of Levi’s Stadium, where they would tour and attend the big game later that week.
“We got to have a fun night kicking off this amazing weekend in the San Francisco area,” says Chelsea Perkins, Event Sales Director for Topgolf’s San Francisco market, who books events for corporate and social groups. “Everybody was so excited, there was just so much energy.”
For a wish to go to the Bahamas, Topgolf hosted a festive celebration to send the wish kid off in style. The family gathered in a dedicated golf bay and enjoyed a spread of the child’s favorite foods—complete with Bahamian flag toothpicks—and even a few thoughtful gifts for the trip ahead.
“We go all-in on decorations, branded gifts, favorite foods,” Perkins says. “We work with Make-A-Wish to better understand what each child likes, because it’s really one-size-fits-one. We want to make sure that each child feels really special.”

The partnership also has a meaningful impact on Topgolf team members. Perkins, who oversees Topgolf’s administration team, sees how employees naturally step forward to get involved. “Anytime Make-A-Wish is coming in, everybody gets excited, and they want to be a part of it,” she says. “You’ll see the teams going above and beyond by volunteering their time or getting creative to think of different activities.”
Even Topgolf guests play a role. Each spring and summer, when a guest purchases the Donut Holes-In-One—a favorite on the Topgolf menu—the company donates $1 to Make-A-Wish. During World Wish Month in April, Bay Area locations also host volunteers who share more about the mission and offer simple ways to get involved, including donating at checkout and displaying a star in the lobby. Together, these efforts raised nearly $4,000 in April alone this year.

“We’re so grateful for our partnership with Topgolf,” says Amy Lynch, Corporate Relations & Development Manager at Make-A-Wish Greater Bay Area. “Whether hosting wish families, supporting volunteers, or fundraising on our behalf, our partners at Topgolf are wonderful to work with and are incredible advocates for our mission.”
For Perkins and her team, the impact is both immediate and lasting. “Topgolf creates an environment where families can be together and have fun without thinking about anything else,” she says. “The few hours of joy give families a chance to make positive memories together, and that’s something that lasts much longer than just their time with us.”

She especially loves the ripple effect that wishes create, bringing together Topgolf, partners, and the greater Bay Area community.
“The outcome is always the same,” Perkins says. “We have joy, connection, unforgettable moments. The families have fun. Sometimes there are even happy tears. It’s just a powerful reminder of what we as a team at Topgolf can do beyond just the entertainment piece of it. It’s been a wonderful partnership.”
