Silas' Wish to Meet the New York Yankees is Underway

Silas is the kind of kid who is always on the move. Whether he's playing baseball in the backyard, opening Pokémon cards with his cousin, swimming, or building forts at home, he loves to stay active. Like many 7 year olds, Silas has a wide range of interests, but nothing compares to his love for the New York Yankees.

In 2025, what began as a fever that wouldn't go away led to a life-changing trip to the emergency room where Silas was diagnosed with leukemia. He immediately began treatment and has spent the last year enduring countless procedures, hospital stays, and chemotherapy infusions.

"He's faced each challenge with a bravery I'm not sure I've ever witnessed, very matter-of-fact and stoic, yet still showing up with his silly sense of humor and dance moves," said wish mom Jenn

Before cancer, Silas's world revolved around playing sports. But after his diagnosis, getting out on the field came to an abrupt stop.

Looking for a safe way to keep moving during treatment, Silas discovered baseball.

"Baseball has become a much-needed outlet for him," wish mom Jenn says. "Being immunocompromised has sidelined him from organized sports, but playing baseball fulfills his need for activity, for sport, for just getting the wiggles out."

As his love for baseball grew, so did his admiration for the New York Yankees. Silas and his mom began watching all their games together, and Silas never goes to an appointment without his Yankees cap for good luck. When it came time to pick his wish, Silas already knew exactly what he wanted.

"I have never been on an airplane and really want to go on one," he said. "Aaron Judge is my favorite baseball player...I want to go on the field and play catch with Aaron Judge. Maybe I can show him pictures of my cool haircuts."

For Silas, this wish represents so much more than a chance to meet his baseball hero.

"This wish seems to 'make up for' the sacrifices he's been forced to make during leukemia treatment," wish mom Jenn said. "The isolation from friends, missed sports seasons, and inability to attend school in person. 'But at least I might get to meet Aaron Judge,' he says as if all the needle sticks, lumbar punctures, lost hair, hospital stays, and chemotherapy are worth it because he just might get to play catch with Aaron Judge."

Silas' wish will come true during a very special time: his 8th birthday. Instead of his typical birthday celebration, Silas will mark a milestone year with a once-in-a-lifetime adventure to New York City to meet the Yankees.

In June, the Constellation Society members came together in South Texas to celebrate Silas at a special wish send-off event before he took his first flight.

The Constellation Society recognizes incredible individual donors whose generosity provides the critical resources necessary to grant current wishes, while we grow and innovate to meet the increasing number of wish requests ahead.

The celebration was filled with meaningful surprises, including a visit from Silas's oncologist, who is a member of the Constellation Society. The moment became even more memorable when her sons, who are good friends with Silas, were there to surprise and celebrate alongside him.

Happy 8th Birthday, Silas, and have an incredible time meeting the Yankees!
