Brian's Wish: Finding Comfort and Strength in a “Furever” Friend

When Brian had the opportunity to have his wish granted, he knew exactly what he wanted: a four-legged friend to keep him company. Brian always dreamed of a gray and white Siberian Husky puppy bouncing by his side.

Brian’s life changed dramatically when he was diagnosed with End-stage Renal Disease. He underwent multiple surgeries, had a catheter placed, and began dialysis.

Months blurred together with long hospital stays and recoveries that kept him isolated from the world he once knew. The physical toll was immense, but the emotional weight was just as heavy.

When Brian had the opportunity to have his wish granted through Make-A-Wish Arizona, he knew exactly what he wanted: a four-legged friend to keep him company.

This is the dog he’s always wanted, since he was a baby. Since he was little, he always wanted this puppy.

When Enenra arrived, everything changed. The puppy wasn’t just a gift; it was comfort, companionship and hope wrapped in soft fur and wagging energy.

“He spent the whole year just in and out of the hospital,” Christine shared. “He eliminated all his friends and just bottled everything up.”

Brian often felt closed off, disconnected from friends and the life happening beyond hospital walls. That’s when his longtime wish took on a deeper meaning.

“Brian really wanted something to bring him emotional support through all of his hospitalizations,” explained his wish manager, Jessica Quezada. “He felt closed off from his friends, closed off from the world, because he spent so much time in the hospital.”

The puppy brought joy to Brian’s days and a renewed sense of purpose. He now has a companion who will be there during hard moments and joyful ones.

“He gets to watch that puppy grow. He gets to be there for him when he’s feeling low, and he gets to be there when he’s really, really happy,” said Jessica.

For Brian’s mom, seeing her son smile again has been everything.

“I think it’s been really good for his mental health, to keep him calm,” she said. “Seeing him happy makes me happy.”
