Molly's wish to have a pool

Molly's Pool Provides Therapeutic Play

Molly was diagnosed with Rett syndrome, a rare genetic neurological disorder that occurs primarily in girls, just before her third birthday.

Rett syndrome affects nearly every aspect of the child’s life, including their ability to speak, walk, eat, and even breathe easily. “We often say Rett syndrome was diagnosed with Molly and not the other way around,” her mom Danielle says. “Molly has to endure a lot. She needs constant attention to stay safe and regulated, and the doctor’s visits, testing and treatments are endless.” Molly’s resilience in the face of the challenges presented by her diagnosis inspire those closest to her every day, reminding her family to embrace life’s simple moments. “It’s exhausting but I honestly wouldn’t change it for the world,” Danielle continues. “We watch Molly struggle each and every single day of her life but she does it with a smile on her face and never gives up. Molly has taught us what life really is all about. It’s not what you have in life that matters, it’s who you have. We are blessed to have Molly.”

As a child who loves sensory play, water is one of Molly’s favorite things to interact with. “Molly absolutely loves water,” Danielle says. “Not only does it bring her joy, it is also very therapeutic for her.” Molly's wish was for a pool in her family’s backyard so she could enjoy unlimited playtime with activities she enjoys most. “When we learned that Molly would qualify for a wish, oh my goodness, we were on top of the world,” Danielle continues. “The pool company started working on Molly’s last day of school – we couldn’t have asked for better timing to kick-off the summer after such a challenging year! She met the pool workers and gave them the biggest smile ever. As a parent, all you want to do is see your child be happy. And Molly was HAPPY.”
