Dalton, who lives in Florence, and Samaree, who lives in Camden, had their wishes to be state troopers come true as New Jersey State Police Superintendent Col. Patrick Callahan swore them into duty in a ceremony at the Samuel & Josephine Plumeri Wishing Place, home of Make-A-Wish New Jersey.

Make-A-Wish CEO & President Tom Weatherall abruptly interrupted a program he was emceeing and made the chilling announcement from the stage. “The Magic Crystal from the wish-granting room in our castle is missing!” Only moments ago, Dalton Swain, 6, of Florence, and Samaree Johnson, 6, of Camden, had been sworn-in as honorary New Jersey State Troopers, part of a full day of dream-come-true activities for the two boys, who both have medical conditions. Now they were summoned back to the stage.
