Kiara Adds to Her Sneaker Collection

Earlier this year, Kiara received the news that she had been diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma.

The typically bubbly 17-year-old's world was instantly turned upside down. Her self-confidence was replaced with feelings of uncertainty and she found herself losing interest in things she once loved. Kiara was quick to recognize just how deeply her illness had affected her emotionally; it had taken away her natural energy and zest for life. So, when we asked her, "If you could have one wish, what would it be?", she knew a shopping spree would not only raise her spirits and revitalize her love for beauty and fashion, but also help her regain her self-esteem.

With a list of her favorite stores in hand, Kiara descended upon the Quaker Bridge Mall this weekend to shop, shop, and shop some more! One of the highlights of the day was a visit to the Vans store where she met with Store Manager John. Both self-proclaimed “Sneaker Heads,” the pair chatted about their respective collections as Kiara picked out some new additions for hers. Not only did Kiara leave the store with an impressive nine new pairs of kicks - she also went home with a special size 66 Vans sneaker with the word “Family” emblazoned across fabric and, most importantly, a bright smile and new memories that will last long after she wears out the soles of all those new sneakers.
