Jenna Goes Glam at Her Photo Shoot In NYC

A wish come true has the ability to renew strength and confidence in a child with a critical illness. For 14-year-old Jenna, her wish meant having the opportunity to put her best face forward in her fight against cancer.

"I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer when I was 13 years old," Jenna says. "I felt so empty and sad, and never felt like I would feel the same again. One day at a doctors appointment, I found out that my doctor submitted me to Make-A-Wish! I was beyond excited. It was hard at first to pick a wish, but then it came to me. I’ve dreamed of having a photo shoot since I was young. When I found out my wish was granted, I was so excited! The day before I went to NYC, my wish coordinator called and said my photo shoot was going to be with Time Magazine! I couldn’t even tell you how excited I was. I couldn’t even believe it. My wish experience was life-changing. I met so many amazing people who helped grant my wish, like the people who did my hair and makeup for the photo shoot. It was the best day ever. The wish impacted my family and I so much because for once we could look past my cancer and realize that I’m still a kid and there is so much to look forward to."

In those moments, all the worrying thoughts of doctor's appointments and treatments faded away and were replaced with feelings of hope and joy. Jenna's family watched as she transformed into a supermodel in front of the camera.
