Make-A-Wish New Jersey Celebrates 35th Anniversary of Wish Granting at Annual “Walk & Roll For Wishes” Event

September 07, 2018

Monroe Township, NJ - On Saturday September 22ndMake-A-Wish New Jersey will host its annual Walk & Roll for Wishes at Liberty State Park in Jersey City, NJ, to help raise vital funds needed for their mission to create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses.

Guests of all ages and abilities are invited to join the annual “walk and roll” event, as an individual or as part of a team, and can register in advance at nj.wish.org/walk.  Participants will enjoy a non-competitive, wheelchair-friendly course around the park with breathtaking views of the New York City skyline, followed by a fun-filled day of music, entertainment, games, food and fun. Prizes for the highest-performing fundraising individuals and teams will be awarded as well.

Make-A-Wish New Jersey has been creating life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses for 35 years, and recently celebrated its 10,000th wish for a young girl named Klara, whose wish to have her very own Action Trackchair, was delivered during a surprise celebration at the Samuel & Josephine Plumeri Wishing Place in Monroe Township, a magical and whimsical wish-granting facility that Make-A-Wish New Jersey calls home. 530 children with critical illnesses in the Garden State experienced the power of a wish last year alone, and with the support of the community at the 2018 Walk & Roll for Wishes, even more will be granted in the year ahead.

"Throughout our 35 year history in New Jersey, we have come to know that a wish has the ability to transform a child's life during some of their most difficult times," shared Tom Weatherall, President & CEO of Make-A-Wish New Jersey. “Our annual Walk & Roll For Wishes events invite our donors, sponsors, volunteers, wish families and new friends to hear first-hand what a wish can do, and give everyone the opportunity to engage in our mission. We hope you’ll join us in our 35th Anniversary year and help us continue towards our vision of reaching every eligible child here in the Garden State.”

Registration for the 2018 Jersey City Walk & Roll for Wishes will begin at 9:00AM, and the walk & roll will kick off at 10:00AM.

In addition to the Jersey City event on September 22nd, Make-A-Wish New Jersey will host a second Walk & Roll for Wishes on October 14th in Monroe Township at the Samuel & Josephine Plumeri Wishing Place.
