Ellah's Disney Wish

Welcoming a newborn baby into the world can already be an overwhelming experience, but for Ellah’s parents, their situation was even more challenging than most. Ellah had developed her illness at birth and has been battling lung cancer ever since. Instead of being able to enjoy being a kid, Ellah’s illness has had her in and out of doctors appointments since birth. Ellah also has an infant little sister that also has been facing medical issues. When it was revealed that her wish was going to be granted, Ellah’s parents were instantly brought to tears. This moment of relief and hope brought a special light to a dark and stressful day while Ellah’s sister was undergoing surgery.

At the age of five, Ellah was given the opportunity to receive a heart-felt wish. Ellah quickly decided on her wish of a trip to visit Disney World. However, there were some challenges that arose with receiving a wish during the pandemic, such as the trip needing to be postponed due to travel restrictions and certain park attractions being shut down. Despite these obstacles, Ellah never let them become a negative factor on the trip. She continued to be appreciative of everything that was available at the time. She was most excited to meet her favorite characters, Mickey and Vamprina, and seeing some wild animals. Traveling to Disney allowed Ellah’s family to the opportunity to take a step back from their reality, and fully immerse themselves into a magical world.

“Make-A-Wish went above and beyond with ensuring that they kept in touch with our family and made sure that we never felt forgotten”, said Ellah’s dad. This wish experience is one they will forever be grateful for, and allowed them to make life-long memories together as a family.
