Playing dress up and partaking in everyday activities are little things in a child’s life that we don’t realize can be taken for granted. It is absolutely devastating to hear any bad news pertaining to a child’s health. This quickly became the reality for six-year old Charlie and her parents upon being informed of her cancer diagnosis. Time that Charlie should have been spending on the playground with her friends was now spent in the hospital receiving medical treatment. Although not easy, Charlie has not let her illness dull her unique shine. She continues to be the same outgoing personality that brightens everyone’s day. Despite all of the help and expertise from the medical staff to make her feel safe, Charlie finds the most reassuring support from her twin brother, Jack, and her parents.

When her wish granters asked what she would like her special wish to be, Charlie knew exactly what she wanted. With Ariel as her favorite princess and “Tinkerbell” as her favorite movie, she wanted a wish that would incorporate lots of magic! Without hesitation, she expressed her desire to partake in a Princess Adventure at Disney World. While speaking with Charlie, her sparkling personality and love of all things sparkly. Despite her condition, the opportunity to receive a wish filled her with positivity and excitement.

Upon stepping off the airplane in Florida, Charlie and her family were equipped with everything they needed. They were ready for their Disney adventure! Everywhere she went, Charlie wore a huge smile on her face. This trip to Disney allowed Charlie and her family the opportunity to shift their focus off of doctors offices, treatment, and illness, and towards hope and creating lasting memories together.

At Make-A-Wish New Hampshire, we strive to grant life-transforming wishes to children living with critical-illness. We are thankful to have the support of our New Hampshire community to make wishes possible. When a wish is granted, it brings to together families and entire communities. There are few experiences more powerful than making a wish come true. Our work brings joy and healing to those who receive wishes—and those who help grant them. We are on a quest to bring every eligible child’s wish to life—a goal that is born from the idea that a wish is an integral part of a child’s treatment.
