The Make-A-Wish Mural Project
The Make-A-Wish Mural Project is an exciting collaboration with LISA Project NYC to celebrate the resilience of wish kids and NYC! Together, we're bringing Make-A-Wish into our local neighborhoods through street art, with a series of vibrant and festive community murals.
Each mural will has an individual, artistic approach to a wish - the long-term impact, the beauty, and and the magic of a kid’s wish – and to the community that the mural is in.
This project is inspired by Rey “The Dr¡f” Rosa, a wish alum and co-founder of LISA Project NYC. Rey has fought a critical illness since birth, and after growing up in the foster care system, he credits his wish with bringing color and imagination to his life. Rey’s wish to visit Walt Disney World ® Resort at the age of 10 allowed him, in his words “to see color again.” Ultimately, it led him to becoming a street artist passionate about giving back to his community.
Inspired by Rey’s story and his work building LISA Project NYC, a public-arts non-profit, he has curated this mural project to continue his mission of "paying it forward.”
Rey has brought together a diverse group of amazing artists who are connect to their communities through art. These artists are becoming part of the Make-A-Wish mission and giving back in a unique way, by sharing their extraordinary talent. We are so excited to feature works not only from Rey himself, but from John "Crash" Matos, Indie184 and Peach Tao.
