Donor Advised Funds

A donor advised fund (DAF), which is like a charitable savings account, gives you the flexibility to recommend how much and how often money is granted to Make-A-Wish Metro New York and Western New York (EIN: 11-2645641) and other qualified charities. You can recommend a grant or recurring grants now to make an immediate impact or use your fund as a tool for future charitable gifts. 

You can also create a lasting legacy by naming Make-A-Wish the beneficiary of the entire account or a percentage of the fund.

More than 70% of the wishes we grant require some sort of travel, and this travel accounts for the number one cost of wishes. Our chapter would need more than 10 million miles to cover every travel wish each year.   

By donating unused airline miles, you help:    

• reduce wish costs  

• make donor dollars go further  

• allow us to reach more kids suffering from critical illnesses in our community

There are a lot of ways you can donate to be part of a wish come true. You can donate hotel loyalty points, event tickets, building materials, new electronics, and more.   

Here are a few things currently on our wish list:

• Gift cards to stores such like Best Buy, Toys R Us, Bed, Bath & Beyond or generic cards such as Visa, AMEX, Amazon, or iTunes 

• Sports team gifts – especially New York Yankees, New York Mets, Buffalo Sabres and Buffalo Bills
