Summary

The core focus of the Marketing/Communications Internship will be to assist the Director of Marketing and Communications in a variety of areas, including social media, marketing projects, and story writing/researching. During this internship, you will learn to work within a team, develop oral and written communication skills, improve problem-solving skills through task management, and gain knowledge of a career in the non-profit field. 

Responsibilities
  • We are looking for someone with experience crafting thoughtful and impactful stories and social media posts for TikTok, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn.
  • Other responsibilities will include research for press releases, writing newsletter and wish stories, and developing website content.
  • The Marketing/Communications Intern will also be asked to assist with design work, help with company events, and other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, written, and oral communications skills
  • Self-motivated, great attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Flexibility to simultaneously work on multiple projects with short turnaround time
  • A team player and passionate about the mission of Make-A-Wish
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite 

Time Commitment:  Minimum of 15 hours per week, unpaid. 

Education & Experience
  • Experience with social media (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn), web research, and story writing is strongly encouraged.
  • Experience with Canva and Adobe Creative Suite (PhotoShop, Illustrator, InDesign) a plus.
  • Ideal for applicants pursuing a degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or other fields with an emphasis on writing skills. All majors are welcome to apply. Charlotte office only.

Other Info

The position is at the Chapter Headquarter Office in Charlotte, NC.  The internship is unpaid.

This role will work a hybrid schedule to include some days from home, as well as in the Charlotte, North Carolina office located in South End. The Marketing/Communications Intern reports to the Director of Marketing and Communications.
