Ready for Takeoff: Nemo's Wish - BWF

3....2…1….liftoff!

When it comes to transportation and seeing how all things go, wish kid Nemo is mesmerized. When he sees an airplane, he always rushes to the window to look at it with awe. Even throughout his cancer battle, the four-year-old from Silver Spring, MD is an easygoing kid - always upbeat, enjoys playing with his toys, and spending time outside. As possibilities on what his wish could be were discussed, one idea soared beyond the others. Nemo wished to have a behind-the-scenes airplane experience!

When Delta Air Lines heard about Nemo’s special wish, they stepped in to help his wish take flight. Nemo and his family were given the VIP treatment at Ronald Reagan National Airport. Upon arriving at the airport, they were greeted by cheers and welcome signs from his wish granting volunteers. From there, the staff took them throughout the airport to learn everything about planes. Nemo and his family explored an empty plane, where a Delta flight attendant gave him his “wings”. Once he got his airplane bling, he headed to the cockpit to meet the pilot. Nemo was so excited to see all the controls, hear how they work and sit in the co-pilot seat!

Then they were escorted to a private lounge, where Nemo was showered with gifts from Delta before making their way to the control center. Nemo loved watching all the screens and detailed flight paths. At the end of the tour, the family went out to the tarmac to see planes land and takeoff up close. Nemo clung to his mom with the biggest smile and gave her a huge hug to express his happiness. The next time Nemo sees an airplane flying high in the sky, he will be sure to remember all the joyful moments he experienced on his wish day!

A special thank you to Delta Air Lines for helping make Nemo's wish come true. Photos courtesy of Noe Todorovich.
