Our Artist of the Year: Lucia

Lucia, 15-years-old, from Chevy Chase, MD, loves spending time with friends, watching Stranger Things, and listening to music. Lucia has had a challenging journey battling an autoimmune disorder. She keeps her spirits high by listening to Harry Styles, her favorite singer.

The GRAMMYs is one of the most exciting nights of the year, especially for superfans like Lucia, to see artists walk the red carpet and receive awards such as Record of the Year and Best New Artist. After talking about her love for music with her wish-granting volunteers, Lucia decided her wish would be to go to The GRAMMYs.

Lucia and her mother set off to sunny California, where they enjoyed a weekend of exploring and sightseeing. They were greeted with a welcome lunch, which was followed by a tour of The GRAMMY Museum. As Lucia and her mother toured the museum, they saw first-hand outfits worn on The GRAMMYs red carpet, musical artifacts, and even handwritten song lyrics!

On the day of The GRAMMYs, Lucia had the ultimate star treatment from a local glam squad - styling her hair and doing her make-up before walking the red carpet in her beautiful pink dress. She saw some of her favorite musical artists in person, a memory she will hold onto forever. After the awards show, Lucia attended the official After Party, where she danced the night away with Hollywood’s most beloved superstars.

Lucia’s wish created a once-in-a-lifetime experience she shared with her mother. The memories created throughout her wish will last a lifetime and serve as a reminder for Lucia and her family to hold onto strength as they continue their journey for years to come.
