Lailah Strikes a Pose!

Ten-year-old Lailah from Waldorf, Maryland isn’t your average kid. Sure, she loves art and can create incredible masterpieces, but beneath her infectious smile and outgoing personality lies a wisdom far beyond her years. Diagnosed with lymphoma, Lailah has faced challenges most adults couldn’t handle. Yet, her spirit remains unbroken, and her determination and purpose lie in inspiring others.  

When Lailah learned that she was eligible for a wish, she put a lot of thought and research into it and decided she wanted to be on the cover of a magazine. Not for fame, but to be a beacon of hope for others facing similar battles. “If you have cancer,” she declared, “you can fight your way through and never give up.”  

Lailah's wish day was a whirlwind of excitement! The day began at the offices of the Washingtonian magazine, where Lailah was pampered with professional makeup. During the glamorous photoshoot, she struck a pose in three different outfits, transforming into a fashion icon. Lailah even got to share her experiences in an interview, her voice shining bright. The celebratory atmosphere was complete with delicious cupcakes, a personalized welcome sign, and a room filled with colorful balloons, making it a truly unforgettable wish day. 

Lailah’s wish isn’t just about her; it has a powerful message splashed across the cover- a testament to the unwavering courage that lives within her. By gracing the cover of an honorary Washingtonian magazine that she can share with her friends and family, Lailah paints a picture of resilience, showing others that they too, can overcome even the toughest of obstacles.
