Ian's Wish to Give Back to his School

Eighteen-year-old wish kid Ian from Arlington, VA has been through a tumultuous treatment journey for a respiratory disorder. Through it all, Ian has been able to lean on his caring support network of family, friends and community who have been with him every step of the way.

In school, Ian produced his high school’s morning announcements, which led to him joining the broadcasting club. Ian started learning about production and took up an interest in filmmaking. When he went into treatment for his disorder, his classmates showed him so much kindness during this difficult time in his life that he was inspired to give back to them.

Ian wished to donate broadcast equipment to his school, Gonzaga College High School, so more students could share in his love for broadcasting. His wish came true at a school assembly, where he was presented with a giant check as his peers cheered him on.

“Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic provided that ‘win’ to Ian for his mental and physical well-being,” Ian’s nurse, Jennifer, said.

Ian hopes to follow his passion for video editing in college as a film major. For now, as his high school reaches their 200th anniversary, Ian’s generosity will have a positive impact on the students there for years to come!
