Baltimore Wish Fund

Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic offers some special affinity funds that allow major donors and corporate partners to focus their support on specific areas of passion, such as the communities where they live and work. The Baltimore Wish Fund directly supports wish kids living in Baltimore City and the Baltimore metro area, encompassing Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Carroll, Harford and Howard counties. 

Wish Kids in Baltimore Need You

In the past five years, Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic granted more than 600 wishes to children from Baltimore City and the Baltimore metro area, encompassing Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Carroll, Harford and Howard counties. The Baltimore area makes up 30% of all wishes granted in the Mid-Atlantic during this timeframe.

We have more than 60 children from the Baltimore area currently waiting for their wish to be granted. 

Each gift to the Baltimore Wish Fund moves us closer to reaching all children waiting for their wish, a total cost of $750,000 annually. As the fund grows, we will be able to expand outreach and grant more wishes in the region.

The majority of wish kids in Baltimore are referred to Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic from John Hopkins and the University of Maryland Medical Center.

Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic is grateful to The Kahlert Foundation for supporting wish kids as the anchor partner for the Baltimore Wish Fund. Their gift of $100,000 kick-started this dedicated fund and laid the groundwork of support for other partners to join. A long-time supporter of Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic, The Kahlert Foundation has given more than $600,000 to support local wishes since 2014.

Affinity funds will be allocated to cover the direct cost of wishes plus 10% indirect expenses. If monies remain in the fund at the end of the fiscal year (August 31), they will become available to be used on general wish expenses.
