Make-A-Wish® Grants More Wishes Thanks to
Bristol Myers Squibb $500,000 Donation

PHOENIX (July 2020) Make-A-Wish® has received a $500,000 donation from Bristol Myers Squibb Company with the purpose of granting more wishes for children with cancer. This marks the fourth consecutive year of charitable donations from Bristol Myers Squibb, bringing the total count to more than $3.5 million given to Make-A-Wish since 2017.

The generous donations from Bristol Myers Squibb over the past few years have enabled wish kids to experience the hope and healing that comes with a wish come true, like Brooklyn, who wished to have a backyard playset.

“We believe that hope is essential and thanks to partners like Bristol Myers Squibb, we continue to deliver hope to our wish families every day,” said Richard K. Davis, president and CEO of Make-A-Wish America. “The power of wishing is life-changing and this contribution from Bristol Myers Squibb will enable us to grant more wishes for children with critical illnesses when they need it most.”

“At Bristol Myers Squibb, we know the impact a cancer diagnosis can have on a patient and the family, especially when the patient is a child,” said Brent Pfeiffenberger, Senior Vice President, Head of US Oncology, Bristol Myers Squibb. “We also know the role hope can play in the treatment of children affected by critical illness and continue to be inspired by Make-A-Wish and their mission of granting life-changing wishes that bring a renewed sense of energy and fight to pediatric patients and their families.”

As COVID-19 has impacted non-profits across the country, the contribution from Bristol Myers Squibb will be especially powerful as Make-A-Wish employees and volunteers remain committed to granting every possible wish that is safe to complete, like Brooklyn. Additionally, Make-A-Wish continues to find creative ways to deliver ongoing hope and encourage wish kids whose wishes have been temporarily postponed, through experiences like car parades or virtual wish reveals.

As a nonprofit, Make-A-Wish relies on supporters like Bristol Myers Squibb, combined with the efforts of other corporate and individual donors, to make these impactful wishes possible.
