Jamison Embraces Playful Side with New Sports Court

Thirteen-year-old Jamison from Potomac, Maryland loves pink, listening to Taylor Swift, and watching golf. Despite having a nervous system disorder, her spirit shines bright, and she always has a smile on her face that is contagious. Jamison finds joy in the simple things, such as playing with her three loving brothers. However, being outside in her backyard presented a challenge as the uneven ground was not ideal for navigating her bike or wheelchair, and her sensitivity to the sun forces her to be in the shade when outside at all times.

This is where Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic stepped in, ready to turn Jamison’s ultimate wish into a reality. Jamison, surrounded by her supportive family, wished to have a shaded sports court in her backyard. This special space would allow her the freedom to play and explore, both on her bike and in her wheelchair, on a smooth and safe surface.

On the day of Jamison’s wish reveal, friends and family gathered together in her backyard to celebrate her new outdoor space. The joy on Jamison’s face now as she glides across the new sports court in her bright pink bicycle with her brothers by her side is heartwarming. This backyard space has become a safe haven for Jamison, where she is free to express herself and enjoy precious moments with her family.

About Van Metre Companies

In 2019, Van Metre embarked on a heartwarming journey of fulfilling dreams in partnership with the Make-A-Wish Foundation. This collaboration was rooted in our commitment to leverage our expertise in designing and building for a cause that touches lives in our local community. Through the generous efforts of our employees and valued vendors, we're able to contribute significantly, ensuring that each project not only meets structural needs but also enhances comfort and safety for amazing kids experiencing challenging times. This year, we're honored to be a part of Jamison's wish for a shaded backyard sports court! Stonewall Concrete played a crucial role by pouring the concrete pad and footers, as well as installing posts for UV Shades to ensure a safe and accessible environment. Beyond structural support, we also took steps to enhance comfort and safety by installing UV Shades and post-safety bumpers, alongside grading a path from home to the sports court. It's our honor to contribute to such an inspiring cause, making wishes come true through practical support and dedication.
