At thirteen years of age, Liberty has undergone thirteen surgeries, but only three were for her heart. She had a heart valve implant put in which will need to be replaced which means she will need more surgeries in the future. 

Her mother describes Liberty as “one tough cookie. She is a fighter and unbelievably stubborn.” Liberty's medical team is often surprised by the fact that despite all her health issues, she leads a very active lifestyle. She enjoys dancing, poetry, singing and hanging out with her friends. Liberty is always the first to jump in and help someone in need.

She draws a lot of strength and inspiration from her faith. Her mother wrote that “she has a faith that can move mountains and a trust in the Lord that is simply beautiful. We love to share the stories of God's miracles in Libby's medical journey. As her parents, we always wish people knew all the challenges she has to overcome to be such a beautiful young lady and dancer.”

When selecting a wish, Liberty’s faith informed her choice, and she chose a wish to give teddy bears with scripture written on them as well as prayers to children like herself who are dealing with cardiological conditions. 

During the wish discovery process, Liberty said that she wanted to share love and compassion with others because she had received so much love.

The verse she chose for her bears was Numbers 6:24-26: “The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.”

To make this wish come true, Make-A-Wish® Idaho teamed up with the Jayden DeLuca Foundation, an Idaho non-profit that supports children and families facing the challenges of congenital heart defects and disease.

Liberty lives in Jerome, Idaho, so she and her family and her friends traveled to Boise for the wish. They played TopGolf the first night. The next day, Liberty and her pals went to the salon and ate lunch at Dave & Buster’s before arriving at the wish party.

“This is the best day ever,” Liberty told staff.

At the wish party, held at Eagle Island State Park, Liberty and the Jayden DeLuca kids feasted on hot dogs and chips and played games like cornhole and Tetris Tumble.

After dinner, the announcement was made that Liberty’s wish would kick off promptly, but that there was one more surprise in store: a $2,500 donation was being made in Liberty’s name to the Jayden DeLuca Foundation. Representatives from the foundation thanked Liberty for her generous heart.

Liberty stood by a wagon full of teddy bears. Kids lined up to receive their bear, and after handing a stuffed animal, Liberty asked if that child would like her to pray for them.

Every child and family member that approached requested a prayer. This act of kindness and generosity had recipients thanking Liberty with tears in their eyes.
