Wish Ambassadors Wanted

Make-A-Wish Greater Bay Area CEO Betsy Biern handing the microphone off to wish Ambassador Heather Hooper to share her story

Wish Ambassador and wish mom Heather (right) tells her family's story at our Wish Insiders Summit: South Bay event.

Your story is powerful, inspiring, and needed.

Every wish has a story — and no one tells it better than the families who experienced it. As a Wish Ambassador for Make-A-Wish Greater Bay Area, you'll share the impact of your wish experience to inspire hope, spark generosity, and help make more wishes come true.

Who can become a Wish Ambassador?

Any wish alum or family member who experienced a wish is welcome to apply.

  • Wish alumni: Share your wish story in your own words.

  • Parents: Speak to the impact a wish had on your family.

  • Siblings: What did it meant to you to be part of your sibling's wish?

  • Grandparents: Offer a generational perspective on hope and joy.

The best way to understand the organization's mission is from the perspective of wish kids and families. Every wish story is different and brings new and genuine emotion.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need public speaking experience?

No. We provide training, sample scripts, and coaching to help you feel ready, whatever your comfort level.

How much time does this require?

As much or as little as you'd like. You choose which invitations to accept, and there's no set schedule or quota.

What kinds of events will I be asked to speak at?

Types of speaking opportunities include large and small fundraising events, corporate partner meetings, community gatherings, donor gratitude, and even live and pre-recorded media interviews. You'll always have the choice of what's right for you.

What support will I get before a speaking engagement?

You'll have access to sample talking points, speeches, and presentation materials, along with recorded trainings and one-on-one coaching from our team ahead of any engagement. We'll send you a briefing with all the details, so you can feel confident and prepared.

Do I have to share my whole story, or can I choose what to talk about?

You can choose which details you're comfortable sharing when you tell your story. You should feel comfortable sharing at least a few details about the medical journey that led to your wish experience, but the focus will be the impact of the wish.
