Brady's Backyard Wish
“We specifically bought our new build home for Brady. As he continues to grow, we needed to make sure our space could continue to accommodate him,” says Tabitha, Brady’s mom.
For families of children with critical illness, their lives revolve around accommodating their child’s needs.
Brady was diagnosed with hydrocephalus at just 20 week in the womb. He was born premature and spent the first 3 months of his life in the NICU. By the time Brady was one-year old, he had endured 40 surgeries. As a result, Brady’s nervous system was greatly impacted, making him prone to seizures.
With all these complications, Brady also experienced developmental delays. His family has worked so hard to strengthen his core and back muscles and is now working on sitting up and standing on his own!
A Space for Entertainment and Therapy
“We want to have a space that can bring our friends and family to us to spend time together, knowing Brady can play and move around safely here. Usually when we go other places, we never know if the area will be suitable for Brady, and if it’s not, we end up having to cut our time short to get him back home,” says Tabitha.
A wheelchair accessible backyard also gives Brady a dedicated space for therapy, making the overall yard conducive to his mobility needs.
“This wish will transform our yard to be our forever gathering place for years to come,” explains Tabitha.
Brady was all smiles during his reveal. Although it rained, that didn't dampen the mood of the day! The Balfour Beatty Central Texas team, who generously built Brady's accessible backyard, was in attendance to cheer Brady on as he explored his new backyard escape.
Today, Brady is going to a daycare for special needs children full time. He continues to improve as he visits multiple developmental therapists weekly.
Wish kid Brady loves everything about the outdoors. Whether it's sunny and 75 or freezing cold and snowing, that is where he feels at home. With help from our friends at BioTrust, Balfour Beatty, and Lea Park & Play, we were able to give Brady the backyard of his dreams! Special thank you to everyone who made Brady's wish a reality.
