What COVID-19 Means for Wishes
A Message from Richard Davis, President and CEO, Make-A-Wish America
In these challenging times, we are all navigating through uncertainty for ourselves, our loved ones and our community. We hope you are staying healthy and safe.
More than ever, we are committed to delivering hope and joy to children with critical illnesses. In light of current medical and public concerns, we wanted to update you on the steps we’re taking to ensure the health and safety of all Make-A-Wish® kids and their families, as well as our partners and supporters.
At this time, we have made the difficult decision to postpone all wish travel, as well as wish kid participation in all activities and events related to Make-A-Wish that involve large gatherings, until further notice.
We estimate more than 30 wishes per day could be delayed by COVID-19 related postponements.
We will continue to monitor guidance from national and international public health and government organizations and are working closely with the national Make-A-Wish Medical Advisory Council, keeping the best interest of the children and families we serve at the center of all policy decisions we make.
Especially during this uncertain time, we are sincerely grateful for our community of supporters.
Your commitment to wish children and families is critical – particularly now. Because of COVID-19 postponements, there will be more wish kids waiting for wishes than ever before. Your help today will bring hope and joy to wish kids in your community. To find out how you can get involved or to make a donation, please visit wish.org.
We will continue to keep you informed as we learn more about the impact to wish kids and their families – and how you can shine a light of hope for them during their wish journey.
On behalf of the children and families we serve, thank you for your support. Together, we can give the brightest of days to children in need.
Richard K. Davis
President and CEO
