What would it be like to have the glamorous experience of a Supermodel for a day? Just the fun stuff. Having stylists, cosmetologists and photographers make you look and feel beautiful while you let your personality shine in front of the camera? It is what many young girls’ dreams are made of and for 18-year-old Camille, whose teenage years have been made more arduous due to her leukemia diagnosis, it was her deepest wish.

Nigel Barker, longtime celebrity wish granter and fashion photographer, was all too ready to work with Camille. Nigel appreciates the modeling profession’s generosity and kindness, having worked with a team to provide children with critical illnesses amazing modeling or fashion experiences for nearly 10 years.

“These people embody the best and brightest aspects of our collective humanity,” Nigel said.

He and the team at Milk Studios in New York contributed their talents to give wish kid Camille a look at the career that could await her.

“I chose this wish because I want to be a model,” Camille said.

With her signature blue hair and natural poise, Camille was ready to pose in the brightest, wildest outfits in the studio. She poured energy into every photo, moving from playful to refined at the photographer’s request.

Even models like to have a little bit of fun.

The transformation in Camille nearly brought her mother, Charlotte, to tears during and after the photo shoot.

“It’s surreal. It’s like a dream,” said Charlotte.

Because Camille has leukemia, her mother had some concerns about the feasibility of a modeling career, especially while undergoing a rigorous treatment plan. “We’ve waited for a long time,” she said, “and I didn’t really think that she would be able to have her dream come true.”

Camille and her mom weren’t the only ones impacted by the experience. For the team of fashionistas, granting a wish was inspiring. By the time Camille left the studio, you could hear the staff saying things like “that put a smile in my heart” and “today is special.”

The Make-A-Wish shoots will be the ones I remember for the rest of my life.
