Laxy stands with her wish team to celebrate her wish to shop for makeup and clothes.
Laxy, 18, loves fashion and makeup. But, unlike most of her peers, Laxy and her family received the unexpected news of her lymphoma diagnosis last year.

“As parents, we only want the best for our children, to see them happy and smiling all the time,” said Elvira, Laxy’s mom. “When we received the horrible news about Laxy’s cancer, it was the worst day of my life.”

While learning how to cope with the uncertainties of her cancer diagnosis and the side effects of chemotherapy, like losing her hair, Laxy received the much-needed positive news that Make-A-Wish Arizona would grant her wish to have a shopping spree.

Laxy, accompanied by her older sister Maria, enjoyed a memorable day together shopping for makeup, clothing, and Hello Kitty items, culminating with a special dinner at Texas Roadhouse. Laxy's wish not only brought joy to her but also created lasting memories.

Watching Laxy experience her wish brought indescribable joy to the whole family. The wish was a beacon of hope during difficult treatment days.

“My favorite part was shopping for makeup; there were too many choices, and it truly felt like I was in my type of candy store,” said Laxy. “This wish was very special for me; it brought me lots of happiness and created a magical day for me and my sister!”

Laxy, who took a gap year from college due to her diagnosis, has finished her treatment and looks forward to attending Northern Arizona University to study journalism and pursue her dream of becoming a reporter.

Her mom noticed a significant boost in her daughter's happiness thanks to the wish; the transformation from the challenging days of treatment to the joyous wish experience was obvious.

“Laxy seems happier now; her wish not only brought her joy, but lots of hope and motivation to move forward with her life,” said Elvira. “We’re grateful for Make-A-Wish Arizona's support and positive impact on our lives."
