“I put on lots of sprinkles, all kinds of sprinkles,” said Holland. “Sprinkles on everything!” 

It was no surprise to anyone that the 7-year-old considered sprinkles when she thought about her wish choices – and ultimately decided she wished to be a pastry chef for the day!  

“She loves to bake with her mom,” said David, Holland’s dad. “Cookies mostly but cupcakes and banana bread. She likes to do it all.” 

For Holland’s wish, Make-A-Wish Arizona was able to secure a full day of fun and learning from somewhere close to her home and her heart, Sweeteez Sweets. Sweeteez is a fun drink and treat shop that Holland and her family had visited before.  

“We stop there once or twice a month so it was nice that it was a place she was familiar with,” said David. The day was quite a difference experience than the family was used to, with Holland making drinks, icing cupcakes, decorating cakes and making cookies with the Sweeteez team.  

“I got to make cupcakes, chocolate chip cookies and frost two cakes. And I made ice cream and used the drink machine and my brother got four things out of the claw machine!” said Holland when describing her wish day.  

“I was the chef and he was the assistant,” continued Holland.  

Getting to make all the decisions that day was a nice change after her battle with cancer two years before. From doctor’s appointments to hospital stays, there wasn’t much sweet about what she went through.  

“Sometimes, she will say something and we will ask her what she is talking about and she will remind us of something she did on her wish day," he continued. "The night after her wish, she couldn’t stop talking about it.” 

Holland continues to bake at home, using all the extras that came with her wish to create a café of her own. Her wish included mixing bowls and baking supplies to take home plus a pretend register, a chef’s hat and jacket. And she is ready to work at Sweeteez when she is older.  

“I decorated cakes and did rainbow designs and animals and lots of sprinkles. We did so many things I can’t remember them all but it was fun, fun, fun!” said Holland. “I love baking and I love wishes. It was the best day ever!”
