For Wish Kid Smith, “Smitty” to those who know him best, his Wish was simple: fun, family, and all the ocean animals he could find. With sharks at the top of his list, Smitty and his family headed to Atalnta, Georgia, ready to dive into adventure.
First stop: the LEGO Discovery Center, where Smitty and his brother dove right into picking out their favorite models. By the end of the trip, Smitty's Mom shared, “We own a lot of Lego kits now and he has made almost all of them already! Hundreds and hundreds of tiny pieces and he’s having so much fun even after our trip is over.”
Next was the Georgia Aquarium, one of the largest in the world. For a kid who loves whales, sharks, and anything that swims, the “Sharks! From Above” was a dream come true. “He enjoyed seeing the aquarium staff putting hammerhead sharks through their exercise and feeding routines,” his mom said. And of course, the dolphin show brought joy (and a good splash!) to the whole family.
Smitty’s wish also brought him face-to-face with some unexpected new friends at the North Georgia Wildlife & Safari Park. The capybara encounter quickly became one of his favorite moments. “He especially enjoyed feeding the baby capybara and learning about their habitat,” his mom shared.
Smitty’s mom said it best: “Smitty is such a lucky boy, and we are so fortunate to have worked with Make-A-Wish. Thanks for all you do to accommodate and make sure that every little detail is taken care of. Our hearts are happy. And wishes are medicine.”
