Evin’s Wish: A visit to Yellowstone National Park

For 14-year-old Evin, the perfect day doesn't involve crowded places or busy schedules. Instead, you'll find him outdoors, surrounded by nature, fishing, exploring, and taking in the world in his own unique way. Living with leukemia has meant spending far too much time in hospitals and treatment rooms. Yet through it all, Evin never lost sight of what brought him peace: wide open spaces, fresh air, and the simple beauty of the outdoors. So when it came time to choose his wish, the answer was easy. Evin wished to experience Yellowstone National Park. What followed was a journey his family describes in one word

What followed was a journey his family describes in one word: amazing.

From the moment the trip began, Evin was made to feel special. United Airlines welcomed the family with early boarding and even gave Evin the opportunity to meet the pilot before takeoff, a moment that set the tone for everything that followed.

Then came Yellowstone. No photograph could truly capture it. Staying at the ranch offered something increasingly rare: a chance to disconnect. With no televisions and only spotty Wi-Fi, the family found themselves fully immersed in the beauty around them and, more importantly, in each other.

Adding to the joy of the trip was another milestone: Evin had his port removed just before departing on his wish. As his family explored Yellowstone together, they watched something remarkable happen. They saw Evin smile. A lot. "It has been a while since we have been on a vacation and seen him smile so much," his mother shared.

A wish may last only a few days, but its impact can last forever.

For Evin and his family, Yellowstone was more than a vacation. It was a celebration of strength, a reminder of hope, and an opportunity to simply be together.

And in the quiet beauty of the great outdoors, they found exactly what they needed.
