Adventure in Vacationland
Three-year-old Wish Kid Vivienne (Vivi) loves getting outside for hikes with Mom and Dad. So, she wished for a getaway to one of the East Coast’s most beautiful destinations, Bar Harbor, Maine and Acadia National Park. But Vivi’s wish wasn’t going to be just any vacation, this was going to be an RV adventure!
Vivi and her parents picked up their rental camper on a Friday and took it home to get familiar with it and pack it up for their big trip east from their home in Morrisville, Vermont. The following Wednesday, the family set off on their journey to Vacationland a.k.a. Maine, a road trip that covered over three hundred miles.
Once in Bar Harbor, they set up camp and set out to explore the area with a rental car, which allowed them to leave their camper parked at the campground. Bar Harbor, known for its spectacular beauty and rugged coastline, is also known as the gateway to Acadia National Park. There’s plenty to do for the outdoor lover, which gave Vivi and her family lots of options, including visiting Sand Beach, viewing the Thunder Hole, where the surf explodes as high as 40 feet in the air, driving to Schoodic Point for the incredible views, or taking in the sights at Otter Cliff, one of the highest Atlantic coastal headlands north of Rio de Janeiro.
But the highlight of Vivi’s trip was the chance to get out on the water for a whale-watching experience. Their boat took the family offshore into the Gulf of Maine in search of humpback, finback, and minke whales. Plus, they had the chance to see porpoise, dolphins, seals, sharks, ocean sunfish, and a variety of offshore birds. It truly was a thrilling family bonding experience for Vivi and her mom and dad.
During their trip, the family went on hikes, enjoyed the views, and relished their genuine Maine experience. It was a wish come true for little Vivi, and the proof is that big smile on her adorable face.
We want to thank all our donors and supporters for helping make Vivi’s wish come true.
