Shelburne First Responders Wash Cars for Wishes

Saturday, May 22, marked the first annual Shelburne Emergency Services Car Wash and Touch-a-Truck Event, at The Vermont Teddy Bear Factory in Shelburne--the new, donated home to Make-A-Wish Vermont.

Members of the Shelburne Police, Fire, and Rescue Services rolled up their sleeves and broke out the soap, water, and brushes to scrub some cars - all to benefit Wish Kids in Vermont.

Families enjoyed climbing aboard a number of emergency vehicles, exploring equipment, and engaging one-on-one with local first responders.

Attendees got $5 off their purchase at The Vermont Teddy Bear Factory store, and enjoyed handcrafted ice cream served up by The Scoop of Shelburne and cotton candy, popcorn and freshly squeezed lemonade The Cotton Candy Connection of Milton.

All business donated a generous portion of their profits back to Make-A-Wish Vermont.

Altogether, the event raised more than $3,000 to help grant wishes to Vermont kids battling life-threatening illnesses.

It's all about the wishes

Wish Kid Noah of Shelburne swung by to meet people and to thank the organizers for working on behalf of Wish Kids across Vermont.

Make-A-Wish Vermont is locally funded, and relies on community support to grant wishes for kids like Noah.
