Ruby's Wish to Be a Ballerina
Though Ruby has some troubles with her heart, she never lets that stop her from making every day into an adventure. Ruby’s favorite activities are playing pretend kitchen in her backyard fort with her older brother, and playing with her dolls when her brother gets tired.
A little girl with a big imagination, Ruby’s wish was to feel like a princess for a day with the Houston Ballet.
Ruby’s wish day started with a ride in a big shiny silver limo to the Wortham Theater, where she was given a full ballerina makeover complete with big girl makeup and a flower crown fit for a prima ballerina. Once she was ready for the big stage, Ruby was able to spend the day with the ballerinas exploring their stage props and practicing her dance moves.
Finally, after a full day of dancing Ruby had an up close and personal view of the ballet performance from her own private box at the theater.
Ruby’s mom reflected on the remarkable day, saying “The people from the Houston Ballet were so great, and made it an incredible experience for her.”- Ruby’s mom
